●  You could provide the explanation of each answer either in English or in

your mother tongue according to your students' level.

1.  The answer is "will take".

When we see "Next Saturday", "will + V" will be used to show the future tense.

答案是 "will take"。 (explanation in Chinese)

    當我們看到"Next Saturday",就要使用"will + 原V"來表示未來時間

2.  The answer is "goes".

When we see the word "usually", it means it is some people's "habit" to do something

in the daily life, so we use the verb form in the present tense ("go" and "goes").

And because "Victoria" is the third singular person, "goes" is the answer.

    答案是 "goes"。

    當我們看到"usually",這表示為某人平時的"習慣",因此,我們使用現在式動詞

    ("go"及"goes")。因為"Victoria"是第三人稱單數,所以我們使用"goes"。

3. The answer is "collected".

Even though we see "often" in the sentence, "in the past" shows it is "some people's

habit in the past", so the verb form in the past tense "collected" is the answer.

    雖然我們看到"often",但是"in the past"說明了這是"過去的習慣",因此,我們使用

    過去式動詞"collected"。

4. The answer is "opened".

When we see "Would you mind closing it?"  It means someone "opened" the window.

Therefore, the verb form in the past tense "opened" is used.

    答案是"opened"。

當我們看到"Would you mind closing it?" 這表示有人已經開了窗戶

    所以我們使用過去式動詞 "opened"。

5. The answer is "brushes".

When we see "never"(habit) and "before she goes to bed" (present time), we use

the verb form in the present tense ("brush" and "brushes".  And "Susan" is the third

singular subject, so "brushes" is the answer.

答案是"brushes"。

當我們看到"never" (習慣) 以及"before she goes to bed"現在時間,我們

就使用現在式動詞("brush" 和"brushes"),因為"Susan"是第三人稱單數

所以,答案是"brushes"。

What is it about?

●  QuizBox provides a simple easy tool to make quizzes of multiple choice.

●  It also provides a simple result for test takers to check their score.

Why is the content good for language learning?

●  It is a simple tool for teachers to make quizzes to check students' understanding

of the language aspects taught in class.

●  The test takers simply click on the buttons to finish the test and get the score at once.

●  The test takers can take the quiz as many times as they like.  And the paper-free

quizzes save lots of time and money.

●  The collected embedded quizzes (in the blog) offer students the chances to review

the lessons or the tests.  They could always try them online anytime, any place.

How might you use it in a language teaching context?

●  Teachers can make the quizzes in advance according to the topics, curriculum.

And after each class, students can take the quiz (5-10 questions) in a short time for

the teacher to check their understanding.

●  Since there is only one type of quiz (multiple choice), teachers can make quizzes like

grammar check, vocabulary, or the content of the text.

●  The teachers can explain each question in class after students take the quizzes, and

later put the explanation for each answer on the blog .  Students are encouraged to take

     the quizzes later again.

●  Teachers can share the quizzes with other teachers, and they can be a collection

    of tests.

Limitations~

●  Need sufficient computers for students to take quizzes in class or at home.

●  Though the tool is simple, the function is simple, too.  The quizzes you make

won't be stored in their website, therefore, teachers had better embed the quizzes

in their blogs right after the quizzes are created.

●  The tool does not include "explanation function" like Proprofs does, therefore,

in addition to  explaining the answers of each test in class, teachers should also

    provide explanation in their blogs.

●  Students' scores can not be recorded.

●  Only quizzes of multiple choice can be make.  No videos or pictures can be used.

●  It may take teachers lots of time to design valid and reliable quizzes.  And the

teachers should make sure the tests (and answers) are carefully made in case

of washback (e.g. students become frustrated when their answer is correct but

    it shows wrong answer).

ProProfs -Free Quiz Maker (Basic Function is Free) (Part I)

Today's Website~

●    ProProfs- Free Quiz Maker

Quiz Maker

 What is it about?

●  This website provides tools for making exams, tests, quizzes and polls for different

    purposes (basic function-free).

●  Videos and imagines could be added to be a part of the tests or quizzes.

●  Question types range from Multiple choice, Checkbox, True/False, Fill in the blanks,

    and Essay type.

●  Test makers could add explanation to each answer to give the test takers feedback,

not simple "X"(wrong) or "V" (correct).

●  Test makers could make unlimited quizzes and have unlimited quiz takers.

●  Test takers can view their score reports.

●  You could still see your quiz maker records or test takers' records in your account

even though it is basic version.

Why is the content good for language learning?

●  Visual and audio functions offer quizzes another way to test students'

language learning outcome, which is different from paper-based test.

●  The online tests/quizzes are interactive.  Students get their answer right after they

answer the question.  The explanation of each answer is followed by the

answer.  Students could read it and check if they understand the key concepts

of what they learn in class.

●  The scores of tests taken will be recorded.  Students get their score result,

and its analysis at the end of each test.  And students can take the same test

as many times as they like.  The teacher can also check students' performance

and adjust the teaching pace accordingly.  Parents can go online and check their

    children's learning process.

●  The tests the teacher makes can be shared (embedded), printed out or taken

by others.  They can also choose appropriate ones for students to take the tests.

●  Students could share their reports or download the report.

How might you use it in a language teaching context?

●  The teacher could make the quiz according to the curriculum.  And after each lesson,

the quiz could be used to check students' understanding.

●  For example, the teacher could make True/False test and have students answer

the questions when they finish reading/ or listening the text.  Or the teacher could make

multiple choices or fill in the blanks to check students' understanding of the grammar or

vocabulary they learn in class.  And the teacher should offer explanation for each question

so that the students can understand when their answers are not correct or when they are

still not sure some concepts taught in class.

●  The quizzes could be also used as homework to check students' understandings.  It is

time stamped, and the time spent on the test is also presented.  Therefore, the teacher

could check each student's test-taking process.

●  Students could take their time to finish the quiz at home when they feel they are ready.

They are encourage to take the tests as many times as they like.

●  EFL Teachers could use their mother tongue to explain the answers for lower-level

    students.

Limitations~

●  Need sufficient computers for students to take quizzes in class or at home.

●  The instruction of this tool is a bit complicated.

●  It may take teachers lots of time to design valid and reliable quizzes.  And the

teachers should make sure the tests (and answers) are carefully made in case

of washback (e.g. students become frustrated when their answer is correct but

    it shows wrong answer).

●  It may takes time to find suitable pictures and videos for designing quizzes (according

    to curriculum).
